Rediscovering Joy: Allowing Yourself to Feel Good
Mon, Nov 10
|Virtual Event
Many of us have been taught—directly or subtly—that joy and play are frivolous, childish, or a “reward” for productivity. As adults, we can feel guilty, self-conscious, or even resistant to fun. But the truth is, joy and play are essential for resilience, creativity, connection, and mental health.

About the event
What does joy really mean to you—and why is it sometimes so hard to let yourself feel it? In this honest, heart-centered workshop, we’ll explore the nature of joy: how it shows up in our bodies and minds, the stories and wounds that make it difficult to receive, and gentle ways to reconnect with delight in both big and subtle ways.
Together, we’ll:
Unpack the difference between fleeting pleasure, happiness, and deep joy
Discuss the messages (from family, culture, or past experiences) that taught us joy was unsafe, selfish, or undeserved
Explore how joy feels in your body—recognizing the physical sensations, energy, and emotions that signal its presence
Reflect on what brought you joy as a child, what has sparked joy at different points in your life, and how that may have changed
